With the release of version 7 of PremiumPress themes and its introduction of new function hooks and filters, it now became possible to develop plugins that extend the theme and add various functionality. We have listened to the user requests and after extensive development are now able to offer the first group of plugins for PremiumPress v7.

E-commerce Tracking Plugin – Extends ShopperPress and other PremiumPress themes to allow Google Analytics e-commerce conversion tracking. With the use of this plugin you can now analyse your ROI, best selling products, which keywords ended up in sale and much more. This is essential tool for any serious online store manager.

Image to RSS plugin – Image to RSS is a WordPress plugin which will add images to RSS feeds for PremiumPress v7 themes. Do you have PremiumPress theme such as ShopperPress, DirectoryPress, CouponPress or RealtorPress? Have you ever wanted to include images in your RSS feeds? As standard, WordPress does not include images in RSS feeds and the plugins that add this functionality don’t work with PremiumPress themes. Therefore PremiumWebServices have developed ‘Image to RSS’ plugin.

Add Top Menu to PremiumPress – This simple plugin will add a new WordPress menu to any version 7 PremiumPress theme.

There are other plugins in development and expected to be released soon.

The Business Grey is packed full of new features and is the first one in the Business Series of ShopperPress child themes. It is not long since we released the Ying Yang ShopperPress v7 child theme, but the Business Grey has gone way beyond of what Ying Yang offers.

So what is it all about? What does the new theme has to offer?

Have a look at the demo site: View Demo

For starters the theme offers 6 new home page widget areas. That means that it is possible to place WordPress widgets instead of any of the banner boxes. It can be used to place custom slider, featured products, advertising like Adsense, list of categories, Twitter or RSS feeds or whatever other widget desired. This gives the website owner much more control over what is displayed and where.

The child theme also supports all the standard sliders offered in ShopperPress. Use the small slider instead the large banner box 1 or any of the large sliders instead of the top two banners.

All the home page banners can be replaced easily by simply uploading or selecting different graphics via the ShopperPress admin area.

There is also a new section in the admin area which offers options for social icons displayed on the top navigation bar, display of the sale strip – which is another great feature to inform customers about new offers or important announcements.

View full list of features and to buy theme click here: Business Grey

People often ask me why should they create a child theme. The answer to that question is pretty straight forward. If you modify your current theme, all the changes could be overwritten when performing a theme update. But if you create a child theme, only the parent theme will be updated and the child theme remains untouched. It also enables to apply the same changes to multiple sites just by copying the child theme.

The child themes in PremiumPress are a bit different from traditional WordPress child themes. In PremiumPress they are more like ‘skins’ rather than ‘child themes’ as they affect mainly the look and not the functionality of the parent theme.

Before you start please perform backup of you WordPress and PremiumPress including database!

In the tutorial we will use DirectoryPress as an example, for any other PremiumPress theme, please replace ‘directorypress’ with the name of your theme.

1) Access your server via FTP (if you don’t have FTP access, there are some WordPress FTP plugins available).

2) Navigate to /wp-content/themes/directorypress/themes/

3) Create a new directory called /directorypress-Child-Theme/ (you could call it ‘directorypress-Orange-Blossom’ or anything else, but it is important that the name starts with ‘directorypress-’ )

4) Copy content of any existing child theme that you want to modify to the newly created directory

5) Modify your styles and files as required

6) If you require to modify different file that is not included in the original child theme, you can copy some of the files from /template_directorypress/ , the files that you can use usually start with’_’ (like _single.php or _sidebar.php)

7) To activate the newly created child theme, go to your WordPress admin page > DirectoryPress > General Setup > System > Child Theme / Website Template > select your child theme from the drop down list – e.g. Child Theme or Orange Blossom (depending on what name have you given to it).

Please use the Forum to discuss any issues or to ask questions.
